Hello There
If you are here, you probably already know quite a bit about us, so we will keep this short and sweet. To clarify between us, we have added Lauren girl's middle name so it will read as 'Lauren' and 'Lauren Michelle.' Feel free to use this trick in conversation as well. How We Met
Two people with the same name, it must have been fate! We sat next to each other (accidentally) during the very first class of the day, on the very first day of university. Of course the teacher couldn't keep our papers straight and constantly returned them to the wrong Lauren (despite the fact that Lauren Michelle signed her name with a flower). Since this happened to be Music Theory the class very cleverly called us Lauren Major and Lauren Minor... Which was even more ironic since Lauren did major in music and Lauren Michelle minored in music. We quickly became good friends and then best friends. We spent a lot of time together.
The (Awkward) First Date
Not exactly fast learners, it took us one and a half years to figure out that we should start a relationship. What would a relationship be without an awkward first date? You might think that having been friends for the previous year would get rid of this problem. Not so. As college students we thought that saving some money would be a great idea, and just our luck there was a free slam poetry performance going on that night! We went merrily on our way, holding hands, excited that this whole relationship thing was finally happening. Showing up at the performance early we were able to get seats just three rows back, that first date glow on our faces. Early into the night the poet asks the audience 'Who has ever been in love?' Several hands go up, but not ours. It's too early for mushy things like that, right? Unfortunately the poet has seen our glowing faces and doesn't understand why our hands didn't go up. He then asks 'Who is in love right now?' Of course we don't raise our hands, so the poet comes and stands right in front of us, bends down a little, and looks straight in our eyes and asks, 'Anybody else?'
We let go of each others hands and slid down in our seats a little as he stared at us. When it finally became apparent that we weren't going to respond he went on with his show.
Thankfully we had known each other long enough that we weren't too phased. We went out to ice cream at Didiers afterward and laughed about it.
Happily Ever After
We love to make little surprises for each other, just to show we care, but the biggest surprise was definitely the ring. Lauren and his uncle, Ted, worked together to create the perfect ring for Lauren Michelle. (Just look at it, they are a couple of quality jewelers).
After spending some more time at the park (Lauren Michelle spent a lot of this time staring at her ring...) we went home and called some of our family and friends to share the good news. After spending several hours on the phone, Skype, and text message we went out to a romantic dinner at The Melting Pot for some romantic one-on-one time. And also one of the best dinners we have ever had.
